Poet and teacher from Nigeria, Tanimonure Richards Adewale’s view on African poetry is that its taking the world by storm, and the world is paying attention.
He recalls with pride when an African American Amanda Gorman recited a poem at President Biden’s inauguration saying that the world had finally started taking notice of African poetry.
In his interview with Sebuleni Africa Interviews recently, Adewale, calls for African poets to united and make use of this ”gift” to the world. At the same time, he calls for a continental-wide poetry group that will serve all poets in Africa, new and budding to experienced ones.
