About The Author

Josephine Wanja Kinuthia, born on September 8th, 1963 at Kikuyu, is a journalist and currently the Director of Information. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma. For her high education, Josephine went to Alliance Girls High School. A single mother of two adult children, Josephine has a passion for writing and some of her works have been published elsewhere before.

The Magical Ruby

It all started one day as Ciru was walking down a Nairobi street. As she turned a corner she bumped into someone. It was an elderly woman, dressed in tatters, and she was obviously drunk. Ciru tried to side-step her, but the woman blocked her way.

“Give me something small, please,” she implored. “I am so hungry and…” Before she could finish, Ciru dug her hand in her purse and gave the woman fifty shillings.
