About The Author
Shehu Mubarak Sulaiman is a Kano-based writer and poet. He is currently a finalist at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he is about to bag a degree in Nursing Science. He won the maiden edition of instafood poetry contest organized by Poets In Nigeria initiative. He is also the moderator of Poets In Nigeria initiative. He loves to read, write and spend some alone-time as it helps to exercise his creative muscle.

I am North
I run from the far Sahara
through the Sahelian Kano
to the fertile lands of Benue
ALAMAJIRI (STOLEN BOYHOOD)
I rise at aurora,
to roam and wander,
foraging for food and shade,
predator, in search of a prey
AFRICAN WOMAN
I am the waters of Volta,
The mountains of Mambilla
I am the winds of Niamey
The deep valleys of Congo
